In a way, I created this course for myself, and now I am sharing it with you. I am a mama to a little boy, and a step-mom to two kids as well. I have struggled with food for all of my life. I thought when I went to medical school I would unlock the secrets to the human body and solve all the mysteries. However, I quickly learned that we were enrolled in a program on how to prescribe drugs and we learned very little about nutrition. I then took off to New Zealand, Chile, and Peru to work, where I noticed that food was different and so was my body. I noticed that the patients were also healthier and had much less chronic disease than we do. I became very curious as to why in our culture we have to fight so hard to maintain a healthy body.
I later went through a very stressful divorce and child custody battle resulting in a weight gain of 25 pounds. I was unable to get the weight off despite multiple attempts at diets that had worked in the past. I did a fellowship in Integrative medicine, a board-certification in Obesity Medicine, and a certificate in Integrative Nutrition. I used all of the knowledge that I gained to lose over 30 pounds, and have been applying that knowledge to my clients with success. I know exactly how stress and midlife can make it impossible to lose weight, and I know how to help.
I also lost my mother to suicide at a young age, and she was always depressed due to her focus on never being good enough, thin enough, or perfect enough by society’s standards.
